Rachels Holiday - Ive just finished this book. Unputdownable! Read Watermelon first though. Looking 4ward to reading Angles and Anybody Out there! I really think Marian is leaving the best till last with writing about Helen, the youngest sister... I really cant wait 4 that one.
Gripping and oh so funny - This was one of the last Marian Keyes books I bought. I d avoided it because it was about rehab and drugs and I found that a little too tedious to read. But I faced my fear and read this book and I couldn t have enjoyed it more if I tried. I loved how it didn t go into the really gritty moments of the rehab and how everything was set with humour. There s a really big moral to be learnt with this book. Marian Keyes should defiantly continue the lives of the Walsh family, they re too funny not to.
light hearted and funny whilst still remaining very potent sensitive and respectful - This book deal s with serious issues such as drug addiction and suicide but in away that s still light hearted and funny whilst still remaining very potent sensitive and respectful.Throughout this book you follow rachel s journey through rehab and her realisation that she s a drug addict.There are moments where you ll laugh out load then a few sentences later you ll be fighting back tears.Having read a lot of books Marian Keyes remains the only author i have come across who can make such serious issues still light and easy to read.Highly recommended.
Same - I ve read several of Keyes books, the first being Anybody Out There. I loved that book and craved more of her humour, so I went out and bought a handful of her books. I was not impressed! They start of great, with humourous characters and potentialy brilliant plots, but after having read three or four you begin to see her lack of imagination. I have read at least three of her books which are based around the same family. Five sisters, the youngest Helen, next Anna, so on and so on. Her pace of writing is unsettling and confusing, and she can easily loose you mid-sentance. She has such potential, and if you have never read a Keyes before then you should.. just don t read more than three.I would recomend Anybody Out There, The Other Side Of The Story and Watermelon.
really bad - This isn t a funny book, its about differnet addictions: i.e. alcohol, drugs, violence, childhood. I read half of it and then thought, I don t really want to know how to tackle different addictions, I just wanted a light hearted read.
